WORLD ATLAS OF PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING WILL HAVE A NEW EDITION
The first two editions of the Participatory Budgeting World Atlas were a resounding success. This is evidenced by over 12,000 registered downloads by individuals from all over the World. Downloads continue to occur daily, highlighting the significant interest in this publication.
Thanks to this work, it was possible, among other things to: i) create a network of more than 100 authors working on this issue; ii) map the experiences of Participatory Budgeting in more than 70 countries; iii) identify and analyse the national legislations on participatory budgeting that exists around the world; iv) carry out an analysis of the regional and continental dynamics of these processes; v) identify some of the most relevant innovations in these initiatives.
The results achieved motivate us to keep working, so we are currently preparing the third edition of the Atlas. It will be full of surprises, with new themes and more countries than those included in previous publications.
Collaboration with the Atlas is open to all people and organizations, from any region of the planet, and can be done in two ways:
becoming an author responsible for collecting data in countries that have not been part of previous editions of the Atlas. Check the publication to see if your country is not yet included on the map of Participatory Budgeting World Atlas;
sponsoring the project with the resources required to cover its costs, the Atlas is the result of voluntary efforts and the generosity of many individuals, as well as the fact that the publication is entirely free.
In relation to the final point, a sponsorship policy has been developed with the aim of securing the necessary support to cover the following costs: graphic editing and production of the Atlas in at least two languages; text translation; and maintenance of the website (currently undergoing renovation).
The sponsorship policy provides for the following four levels: silver, gold, platinum and diamond. These concepts are explained below.
Sponsorship will be accepted from individuals, local, regional, national and international institutions/organizations, as well as projects and networks. The Atlas is a publication based on the values of participatory democracy, international solidarity and the production of independent knowledge, so the organization reserves the right not to accept sponsorships from people and entities whose nature clearly conflicts with these.
Those interested in collaborating with us - authors and sponsors - should contact Oficina Association, which owns the Atlas. Oficina is a non-profit organization based and legally registered in Portugal, a member of the European Union.
